The Battle
The Earth is no stranger to war. It has suffered many. Sometimes Iâd picture the Earth as a human being and wonder; if it could talk, what could it reveal to us about lessons learned. How could it illuminate our minds to all its knowledge and know how. With all the tragedy of war, what is it all for? Why is the battle necessary? Iâm thinking no one wants to go off to war, leaving the comforts of home, friends and family. Only to face an enemy who may or may not know your name, who doesnât care about your skin color, age, or gender; caring only about whose side youâre on.
Thatâs it. What we as women have failed to realize is, we are in the midst of a battle daily, and whether we are choosing to fight or not, makes no difference because you are automatically drafted in upon birth. You have already been enlisted. I will not even try to speak on war in a way of stating I can relate in anyway, because I cannot. I have not lost a loved one to war, or felt the effects of war to the point that I may say, I know what it is like.
My country on the other hand has experienced war, and has suffered great loss. My heart has felt the sorrow of knowing lives have been taken due to terror, and blood has been shed to protect me and my children. The men and women who fight to protect the United States of America, do it, and without even knowing the names of every citizen of whom they are protecting. I believe it is good enough for them to protect the people they do love and know well, without knowing everyone else. When looking out at our military, I see many soldiers with many individual reasons for being, and that makes up the purpose, they have made their choice.
One brave man per family to represent his or her small part of our great America, coming together to fight. I am amazed by it, and forever grateful to every single soldier that fights for the nation I live in daily. Thank you. Just as a country has to be on guard, in constant alert and attentiveness so must we. I can hear the voices of people in communities where I once lived, and remember the older women sitting on the porch of their houses speaking about how different things in life affect people.
One day there was a new program on television speaking on a murder of a woman and her kids, a jealous lover committed these horrible crimes. As they begin to watch comments begin to surface, it seemed everyone had an opinion. Some were like, wow; thatâs sad, and others, where a bit more negative, stating the girl should have known he was crazy; as if to blame her for her death and the death of her children. That amazed me, I was likeâ¦Wow! Stories
